Overseas Travel Vaccination Charges
Vaccination before foreign travel is recommended for many countries by travel agents or the Department of Health. Unfortunately, under current NHS regulations most vaccinations are not available free of charge, and their cost must often be borne by patients themselves. The only vaccines that we are allowed to give free under the NHS are for Hepatitis A (first dose only), Typhoid & Poliomyelitis, but only for travel outside Europe, North America or Australia/New Zealand. Therefore a charge is due for travel within these areas if vaccination is required. (This includes travel to Turkey, Cyprus or the Canary Islands).
Travel vaccinations for patients not covered by the NHS can be provided privately. Please note that you will be charged an administration fee plus the cost of the vaccine (unless a private prescription is issued which you can obtain from a chemist yourself). As a guide, the charge for some of the commonly administered vaccines is as follows:

If a private prescription is issued it is your responsibility to bring the vaccine with you for your appointment with the practice nurse. An administration fee will also be payable at this time.
All fees should be settled at reception before seeing the nurse for administration of the vaccine. |
